Lady Cats Enjoy Home Win over Mighty Oaks

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Lady Wildcats returned to action Tuesday afternoon hosting the Oakland City Mighty Oaks.

The Lady Cats beat the visitors from Indiana 6-1.

No. 24 Bethel moved to 4-2-0 while Oakland City dropped to 3-3 on the season.

The Cats got on the board at the 37:35 mark of the first period on a goal by Ainhoa Chirivella. Less than ten minutes later Kalina Stanisic scored after an assist from Audrey La Rue. The Lady Cats made it 3-nil with a goal from Briley Ross. Stanisic was credited with the assist. With less than 13 minutes left in the period, Johanna Veldhuizen scored to give the Cats a 4-nil margin. LaRue had the assist.

Chirivella scored Bethel's fifth goal with just under 33 minutes left in the match. The Oaks scored to cut Bethel's margin to 5-1. The Cats responded with another goal from Veldhuizen at the 80:45 mark which gave the Cats the 6-1 victory.

Bethel had a 20-3 margin in shots and a 12-1 advantage in shots on goal.

Up Next:

Bethel travels to UT Southern Saturday for a 7 p.m. match-up. It will be the 32nd meeting in the series which UTS has dominated at 29-1-1. The tie was in 2009. The lone Bethel victory was last year in McKenzie when Bethel won 2-0 in late August.
