Lady Wildcats Use Second Half Comeback to Beat UHSP

MCKENZIE, Tenn. –For the second night in a row, the Bethel Wildcats won behind the efforts of three newcomers in the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce Classic. After beating Brescia 85-70 Friday, the Cats came from behind to beat UHSP 58-52 Saturday.

Like Friday, newcomers Madison Hart, Alyia Lee and Alayna Anderson led the Wildcats. Hart had 16 points and six rebounds. For the second straight game, Lee finished with a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds. Anderson had 11 points.

Grace Beyer led UHSP with 19 points.

Bethel shot 47 percent from the floor. They connected on five three pointers and were 13-of-18 from the free throw line. The Cats had a 23-21 margin in rebounding.

Coach Chris Nelson knew it would be a tough game. "Today went the way we thought it would as far as it being a very challenging game. UHSP is a well-coached team with veteran players and efficient in what they do. Our team battled first half adversity and learned how to play from behind. We got comfortable in the second half and made some key runs and got big plays from several players down the stretch. This is the type of game that is critical in our team's development. We really like what we see right now and can't wait to get back out there Monday night."

The Cats host Welch College Monday night in Crisp Arena at 5 :30 p.m. Bethel is 147-25 all-time in the building.
