Day One Recap- Mid -South Conference Swim Championships

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - The Bethel University Swim Team is in Kingsport, Tennessee for the Mid-South Swimming and Diving Conference Championship. Competing teams include Campbellsville University, Indian Wesleyan University, Lindsey Wilson College, Midway University, Shawnee State University and the University of the Cumberlands.

Day one results included strong performances for the men's team with Kuba Loboda taking 3rd in the 50 Free, swimming a 21.01, and Akram Nejjar finishing 6th in the 500 Free swimming a 4:57.69.  The men's relay team of Dzun, Sener, Edwards and Loboda took 2nd in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, swimming a 1:25.48 and breaking the previous school record of 1:27.24. The men's team of Sener, Loboda, Dzun and Edwards also finished 2nd in the 400 Yard Medley Relay in a time of 3:27.72, which also broke the previous school record of 3:34.95.

 On the women's side, Clara Bjorkegren finished 14th in the 500 Free, and the women's relay team of Bjorkegren, Kovacs, Ranero, and Tricoli finished 5th in the 200 Yard Free Relay, and 6th in the 400 Yard Medley Relay (Ranero, Kovacs, Tricoli, Bjorkegren).

Coach Kirsten Sass commented, "Day one showed some strong results, and we hope to continue building on this through the remainder of the championships. We are looking forward to what day two brings."

Artem Dzun: 50 Free - 13th (21.87)

Jakub Loboda:  50 Free - 3rd (21.04)

Akram Nejjar:  500 Free - 6th (4:57.69)

Martin Sener:  50 Free - 14th (22.32)

Men 200 Freestyle Relay (Dzun, Sener, Edwards, Loboda) - 2nd (1:25.48)

Men 400 Yard Medley Relay: (Sener, Loboda, Dzun, Edwards) - 2nd (3:27.72)

Women:

Clara Bjorkegren:  500 Free - 14th (5:29.88)

Women 200 Freestyle Relay: (Bjorkegren, Kovacs, Ranero, Tricoli) - 5th (1:47.63)

Women 400 Yard Medley Relay: (Ranero, Kovacs, Tricoli, Bjorkegren) - 6th (4:25.80)
