Wildcats Begin Second Half of Season with Win over Williams Baptist

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats began the second half of their season in style with an 84-75 win over the visiting Willams Baptist Eagles Thursday night in Crisp Arena.

The Cats moved to 10-5 while Williams Baptist dropped to 8-3 on the year. It was Bethel's fourth straight win.

Bethel is 124-51 all-time in Crisp Arena which opened in 2012.

Bethel led 42-36 at the half and outscored the Eagles 42-39 in the second half to hold on for the victory.

The Wildcats had a commanding 49-25 advantage in rebounds. The Bethel bench and depth were factors with a 32-14 margin. Another key to the win was Bethel's 50-28 margin in points in the paint.

Five Wildcats finished in double figures with Querrion Gadson leading the Cats with 16 points and seven rebounds. Tyler Neely had 13 points and four assists. Brennon Marsh had a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards. Kendan Maddox had 10 points and eight rebounds. Justin Evans finished with 10 points and four assists. Dwight Reed and Ethan Turner each had eight points.

Ben Keton led WBC with 19 points.

The game tipped off the second half of the season for the Wildcats. The Cats travel to Southeast Missouri State Saturday for exhibition action before hosting Welch College on January 8.

The Wildcats then begin MSC play on January 13. The first three games are road games. After traveling to Freed-Hardeman on the 13th, Bethel then faces road games at Campbellsville (18th) and Lindsey Wilson (20th).

Tip-off in the  Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau is slated for 3 p.m.
