Wildcats Open Season with Road Win at Welch College

GALLATIN, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats opened their season Tuesday night traveling to Gallatin, Tennessee to meet the Welch College Flames. A hot shooting night saw the Wildcats win 71-52.

The Wildcats shot 59 percent from the field connecting on 32 of their 54 attempts. A 41-25 rebounding advantage for Bethel was also a huge factor in the victory.

Bethel led 26-19 at the half and extinguished the Flames with a 45-33 advantage in the second half.

Latrell Carter led the Wildcats with 14 points and nine rebounds. Newcomer Querrion Gadson followed with 10 points and six boards. Eleven different Wildcats scored in the opener.

Bethel had a 58-32 margin in points in the paint.

The win was the 494th career victory for Coach Jeff Britt.

The Cats are back in action Saturday at Brescia with tip-off slated for 4 p.m.
