Cats Attempt to Snap Losing Streak Saturday

Cats Host No. 17 Georgetown Saturday in Crisp

MCKENZIE, Tenn. -After a heartbreaking 98-90 double overtime loss to Campbellsville Thursday, the Bethel Wildcats have a short time to regroup as they host the No. 17 Georgetown Tigers at 4 p.m. Saturday in Crisp Arena.

Bethel is 10-9 overall and 2-9 in the MSC. The Tigers beat Freed-Hardeman Thursday to move to 15-2 and 8-2. It was GC's seventh straight win. The Tigers are 5-1 in road action while the Wildcats are 5-5 at home on the campaign. Bethel is 114-38 all-time in Crisp Arena.

It will be the 11th meeting between the two with Georgetown leading the series 7-3.

The Wildcats ran into a buzz saw in early December in Georgetown, falling 94-73 to the then 17th ranked Tigers. It was Bethel's first road game on the season.

The Tigers outscored the Wildcats 16-2 in the first four minutes of the game. GC held a 27-5 margin after the first seven minutes and went on to lead 53-30 lead at the half.

GC took a commanding 66-37 lead with 15 minutes left in the game. The Wildcats rallied and pulled to within 14 at 68-54 with 10 minutes left. Georgetown weathered the Cat rally and won for the 7th time in the ten meetings between the two programs.

Bethel was 29-of-73 from the floor at 39 percent. The Cats hit 9-of-29 shots from the three-point arc. GC was 36-of-76 from the field at 47 percent. The Tigers knocked down 15 three-pointers in the game. Bethel had a 49-39 rebound advantage but committed 18 turnovers in the game. The Tigers had a 27-13 margin in points off turnovers.

Kamron Rose led Bethel with 15 points. Tyreek Montgomery followed with 14 points.

Derrin Boyd led the Tigers with 20 points.

The Wildcats are averaging 75.3 points per outing. They yield 70.7.

Jon Brown leads Bethel in scoring at 11.5 points per game.  Rose follows at 11.4 while Jamarius Mayberry is at 10.6 points per outing.

Jarred Walker enters the game with 392 career assists which is 11th all-time in program history. He is 5th all-time in steals with 202.

Combining his play at West Florida and Bethel, Brown is a member of the 1,000 Point Club with 1, 179 career points. Brown has scored 332 as a Wildcat.

Bethel shoots 42 percent from the floor while their opponents are at 43 percent. The Cats are at 33 percent in made three-pointers while the opposition is at 31 percent. Bethel shoots 68 percent from the foul line. The Cats outrebound their opponents 39-31 per outing.

Jeff Britt is in his 22nd year as the head men's basketball coach at Bethel and his 33rd year as a college basketball coach. His record as a head coach is 491-338 and includes 11 seasons with 20-plus wins. He currently ranks 10th for most wins among active NAIA Division I men's basketball coaches. Britt is 385-295 at Bethel.
