Cats Fall at No. 17 Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, Ky. –The Bethel Wildcats ran into a buzz saw Thursday night in Georgetown, falling 94-73 to the 17th ranked Tigers. It was Bethel's first road game on the season. The Tigers remained unbeaten (6-0) at home and moved to 8-1 overall and 2-1 in the MSC. The Wildcats dropped to 5-2 and 1-2.

The Tigers outscored the Wildcats 16-2 in the first four minutes of the game. GC held a 27-5 margin after the first seven minutes and went on to lead 53-30 lead at the half.

GC took a commanding 66-37 lead with 15 minutes left in the game. The Wildcats rallied and pulled to within 14 at 68-54 with 10 minutes left. Georgetown weathered the Cat rally and won for the 7th time in the ten meetings between the two programs.

Bethel was 29-of-73 from the floor at 39 percent. The Cats hit 9-of-29 shots from the three-point arc. GC was 36-of-76 from the field at 47 percent. The Tigers knocked down 15 three-pointers in the game. Bethel had a 49-39 rebound advantage but committed 18 turnovers in the game. The Tigers had a 27-13 margin in points off turnovers.

Kamron Rose led Bethel with 15 points. Tyreek Montgomery followed with 14 points.

Derrin Boyd led the Tigers with 20 points.

The Walker Watch: 

After the GC game, Bethel senior guard Jarred Walker has 368 career assists which is 12th in program history. Jarred has 188 steals which is 6th in the Wildcat record book.

Jon Brown adds to Career Total:

After scoring three points versus Georgetown, Bethel's Jon Brown has 1, 073 career points.

Coach Britt Closing in on # 500

Jeff Britt is in his 22nd year as the head men's basketball coach at Bethel University and his 33rd year as a college basketball coach. His record as a head coach is 486-331 and includes 11 seasons with 20-plus wins. Britt is 380 -288 at Bethel.

The Wildcats remain on the road traveling to Campbellsville Saturday for a 3 p.m. CST tip-off against the Tigers. It will be the 7th meeting between the two programs with Campbellsville leading the series 4-2.
