
Cats Lose Basketball Exhibition at Union
JACKSON, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats gave (NCAA DII) Union University a scare Saturday night in Jackson. After trailing 57-42 at the half, the Wildcats scored eight unanswered midway of the second half and gave the Dogs a stern test in the exhibition before falling 83-76.
Bethel outrebounded Union 37-32 but committed 17 turnovers. Union hit 13 three-pointers before their Homecoming crowd.
Jamarius Mayberry led the Wildcats with 19 points. Jon Brown followed with 18 while Hayden Thomas also finished in double figures with 13.
The Wildcats officially open their season at home Friday in the opening night of the Chick-fil-A Classic. The two-day event has Bethel playing Campbellsville University -Harrodsburg Friday at 8 p.m. Blue Mountain meets Oakland City at 6 p.m. Saturday, BMC meets CUH at 2 p.m. The Wildcats face Oakland City at 4 p.m.
