Bat Cats Open Home Season with Split Versus Cleary

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats opened the home portion of their season Friday hosting Cleary (MI) University. The two games were the first games of a four game weekend series.

In game one, Bethel jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first. Adriel Vega got the Cats on the board with an RBI single. Jose Olmeda drove in a run with a fielder's choice.

The Cougars pushed a single run across in the third and two runs in the fourth. Those runs proved to be enough as Cleary won 3-2.

Cleary outhit the Wildcats 6-4. The Cougars stranded 10 runners while Bethel left five on base.

Tyler Proctor suffered the Wildcat loss. Travis Klocek picked up the Cougar win while Colin Brazil was credited with the save.

In game two the Cougars again took an early lead with a first inning run. The Wildcats rallied with a run in the third and two runs in the fourth. Bryan Catala drove in a run with a single in the third. Aiden Morris and J T Morgan had RBI's in the fourth.

Leading 3-1, the Wildcats broke the game open with a four run fifth. Olmeda had a three-run triple. McKee had an RBI double to hand the Cats a 7-1 lead.

Kendrick Osborne capped off the Wildcat scoring with an RBI single in the sixth. Bethel won 8-1.

The Wildcats outhit the Cougars 10-2. Zach Zimmer picked up the Bethel win while Nate Rainiszewski was charged with the Cougar loss.

The Wildcats finished the day at 1-5 while Cleary enters Saturday's action at 3-1.

The teams square off again Saturday for another doubleheader beginning at noon.
